The Danube is the second largest river of the European continent and when approaching the Black Sea, it forms one of the most beautiful deltas in Europe - possibly even the world!

Vast areas of water and land create a unique and landscape and habitat for numerous species of plants and animals. As the largest wetland in Europe featuring one of the largest expanses of reed beds in the world, the Danube Delta is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Danube delta also gives a home to over 327 species of birds, representing 81 % of Romania’s avifauna and over 110 species of fish. Whilst visiting the Danube Delta you can witness the impressive diversity of habitats and life forms - a true haven of biodiversity, a gene bank of natural heritage.
